The Movement Hub is an organisation based in Mumbai that looks at building avenues and opportunities for dancers from multiple different genres of dance and also provides quality dance education. For International Dance Day, The Movement Hub will be hosting ‘What’s the Scene?’, a unique and immersive dance experience featuring showcases, workshops and performances of a variety of dance forms.
The event is designed to be fun and caters to experienced and new dancers alike. Dancers will also get the opportunity to interact and have sessions with expert artists through the day-long event. As an extra perk, they are also offering 1+1 on drinks all day long!
Workshops:
Guided Movement Session
Led by Somya Kautia, this guided movement session is designed to take you on a journey of self-expression through the power of contemporary dance. You will learn to connect with your body and emotions in new ways as you explore movement, flow, and intention in a safe and supportive environment.
A transformative experience that will leave you feeling more connected to yourself and the world around you.
Afro Animation Party
Led by Shreya Shetty, featuring fun and lively Afro beats, this session is designed to take you on a journey of cultural exploration and celebration through African dance movements.
You will also get to learn the rich history and meaning behind this dynamic dance form as you move your body to the beat of the drums in this simple follow-along dance session.
Salsa Workshop + Social
Led by Sahiba Sawhney, this session is perfect for both beginners and experienced dancers alike. You will learn the basic steps and techniques of salsa, as well as get to share your skills with your partner. If you don’t have a partner, you can always find one at the session. After the lesson, there will also be a social dance party where one can practise moves learnt in the session.
In addition to the workshops, the dance extravaganza will feature a jam and collaborative showcase with artists from various genres.
Showcase Exhibitions - Adapt to Express
Six incredible artists come together to collaborate and showcase their skills in a friendly and supportive open battle. They will be given prompts and challenges that will put their skills to the test in one-on-one battles. These challenges are designed to bring out the best in our artists and showcase their individual strengths and creativity.
The event will also feature fun stalls, a corner for dance films and books, and a lot more. First 15 tickets get a special discount!
